Tell Me Something

When detective Cho finds the body of a young man, whose family may be financially involved with him, Internal Affairs becomes interested, and then bin bags of mixed body parts, from diverse victims, start turning up across the city. There appears to be no connection until the police discover a link - all the victims have dated the same beautiful, mysterious girl...

The film opens with a body on a slab, a gloved hand wields a scalpel, red blood flows. I think, a corpse wouldn't bleed like that. Shortly the script reveals, it isn't a corpse! Unconscious, but alive, whilst vivisected?

There are many nice features to this movie. The scene when the detectives shuffle paper cutout body parts is genuinely creepy and the suspense is well paced, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

This is a well made, multi-layered chiller, with good performances, particularly from the girl (Shim Eun-ha), around whom the plot revolves. The story keeps you engaged and guessing right to the end. As director Chang Yoon-hyung says, you might want to watch the movie a couple of times before making up your mind as to who did what.

There are many gory moments in what is a whodunit, rather than a horror flick. Worthy of note is the forklift sequence, the scene in the elevator and the multiple pile up on the motorway. The characterisation and portrayal of the girl and the two detectives is excellent throughout. The romance, however, is not fully believable and the plot is too convoluted. You are left, asking where, what, why?
